AMDEFE 2008

AMDEF was launched in March of 2008, and was essentially the beginning of my career in entertainment. Admittedly, it was a huge failure. I had little experience in event production. I overestimated the bar order and had way too much alcohol for the crowd. I overestimated the return on radio, weekly, magazine, flier, and poster promotions. I underestimated the size of the space. Ultimately, the event was a bust, both logistically and financially. But, I did present the concept to a receptive audience of just over 300 attendees and around 80 participating staff and talents, and I garnered the support of many of those involved for years to come.

The succession of annual AMDEF experiences to follow have been some of the most informative, labor-intensive, developmental, and inspirational period experiences of my life. Moreover, they brought a tremendous amount of life experience in event production. My 80 person staff and talent roster immediately doubled, as did the amount of entertainment we packed into each show. Each year layered increasingly more talent on top of each other, combining elaborate collaborations between Fashion Designers, Musicians, and Performing Artists packed into a back-to-back showcase of assorted talents.
